Your weaknesses, doubts, and insecurities are no surprise to Him

Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. ~Psalm 62:8 (NIV)

Many people find it difficult to pray, much less “pour out their hearts” to God. To pour out your heart literally just means to tell someone your secret feelings and the things that worry you. Pouring out our hearts to God can be rejuvenating but sometimes we have a hard time talking to Him about our secret feelings and worries because of how others have responded to our disclosures and confessions in the past. Many people live in a spiritual identity protection mode. We don’t want others to know our insecurities and weaknesses because we live in a society that despises and depreciates weakness. We even despise our own weaknesses for the most part. But God says His power is made perfect in our weakness. Paul gives us a great example of how we are supposed to deal with our weaknesses. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 Paul tells us of a conversation he had with the Lord concerning his “thorn” or what he refers to in scripture as the weakness in his flesh that kept him from becoming conceited. He states, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (NIV) God’s grace is sufficient for all of us! Do you have a weakness that God just might be leaving to keep you from becoming conceited? Paul humbly accepted his weaknesses knowing God was capable of making him shine despite them. He did not try to sweep them under the rug, he identified them and gave God glory in the midst of his weaknesses knowing God would be with him and care for him no matter what. Paul knew what it meant to be in Christ. To receive His strength from the Lord. His confidence was not in himself and in his own abilities.

We all need to talk about our concerns and worries, if anything just to get them off our chests. The bible refers to the Holy Spirit as our counselor. He is the person we are supposed to go to. The truth is He is the only one capable of handling our troubles and concerns both with ourselves and with others. The Lord tells us in Romans 8:26 "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” (NIV) That is an awesome promise! God’s Holy Spirit within us sustains us before the throne of grace. He receives from what is the Lords and conveys it to us. Whether it be wisdom, provision or healing, the Holy Spirit is in the recreated, born-again believer to make manifest the things of God in this earth. The Holy Spirit is our very best friend as we walk through this life on earth. He is God with us, and He is everything we need this side of heaven. Go to the Lord today and pour out your heart. God’s Word says your weaknesses, doubts, and insecurities are no surprise to Him. He has made provision for them, and He doesn’t want you working on “issues” in your life that He isn’t dealing with you about. We need to identify the voice of the Lord versus the voice of the enemy. The enemy tells us all day long why we aren’t good enough. God tells us all day long we are loved and accepted. Don’t try to hide anything about you. The Lord said you were fearfully and wonderfully made. We don’t have everything right just yet, but He does, and He is in us interceding for us!

I can do all this through Him who gives me strength. ~Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
