You've got the power

But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses …to the ends of the earth. ~Acts 1:8 (AMP)

We as believers in Jesus Christ have the power of the Holy Spirit to help us deal with circumstances in our lives differently than the rest of the world.  Jesus said in John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever.” (AMP)  God’s Holy Spirit enables us to live our natural life in supernatural ways.  He helps us to have peace in the middle of a crisis and remain positive when everything around us is negative.  The Holy Spirit is God with us in our everyday life.  He tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:6 “every spiritual gift and power for doing His will are yours.” (TLB)  We should remind ourselves and each other of that promise more often!  Do you trust that God has given you everything you need to be successful no matter what comes your way?  Do you believe in Gods ability to help you and heal you and bring you safely home into eternity at the end of this journey?  Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (NIV)  That is proof alone that God does not want us to strive through life.  He wants us to bring Him our cares and cast them on Him knowing that He cares for us.

Have you ever met anyone who said their life was like a dream come true and they never had a problem?  I haven’t.  We all have challenges and struggles and heartaches and tragedies.  Jesus tells us in John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (ESV)  The abundant life is not a trouble free life.  It is a life that enables us to rise above our troubles, to have faith in God and to find hope in His promises.  The abundant life Jesus promised is a life with a new perspective.  All our life we are “programmed” so to speak by our circumstances, our culture, our families…the list goes on and on.  We develop a perspective from what we can see or reason out in our minds and especially from what we have already experienced.  But God doesn’t want us to let our history dictate our destiny by living by our own perspective.  He wants us to believe and trust in His promises and then He gives us His perspective which is quite the opposite of what you would find in the world!  Scripture teaches us in 1 Corinthians 1:27 “God has deliberately chosen to use ideas the world considers foolish and of little worth in order to shame those people considered by the world as wise and great.” (TLB)  The abundant life we have been promised enables us to live a supernatural life loving God and others consistently, despite our fears and our feelings.  Thank the Lord for the power of His Holy Spirit that enables you to walk in victory over this world and its perspective each and every day!

We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.  For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that He has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. ~1 Thessalonians 1:3-5 (NIV)
