For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. ~Romans 8:29-30 (NIV)
God was arranging the details of your life before you were ever born. That is what being “predestined” means. Scripture tells us we were predestined to be His children. God determined in advance your success and the first step was making you part of His family, but He did not stop there. In Romans 8 the bible teaches us that after He predestined and called us, He justified us. He has declared us not guilty of all the wrong we have ever done, and He has made us righteous in Christ Jesus. That means we can stand before Him, a Holy God without any fear of punishment as His dearly loved children. The Lord tells us in 1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (NIV) When we take God at His word and trust that we have been made perfect in Christ Jesus it will eliminate fear and fear is what causes us to draw back from the wonderful life the Lord has planned for us.
As if that were not enough, God goes on to say He has glorified His children. When a person is glorified, they are treated as “more splendid or excellent than would normally be considered”. God does not treat us as we would deserve, He treats us as He would treat Jesus, who did and continues to do the will of the Father at all times. We are in Christ and God sees us “In Him”. We are asked in Romans 8:31 “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (NIV) Have you ever stopped to consider the fact that God promises He is on your side, and not only can nobody stop you, but He also says nothing will be impossible for you? We need to let those truths sink deep into our hearts! Start every day out right by acknowledging what God has done for you. But don’t stop there, consider what He continues to do for you throughout the day. Your Father in Heaven is for you always and forever, day in and day out, no matter what you do or what your circumstances declare. Yes, your circumstances will talk to you. But you can talk right back by declaring what God has said. He said that He has predestined you, He has called you, He has justified you and He has glorified you. You mean the world to Him, and He wants to show you off to this world by bestowing His blessings and His favor on you today. Trust Him to bring about every promise He has declared by agreeing with Him. It doesn’t matter what you go through when you know the Lord is with you and will be beside you every step of the way. You are more than a conqueror through Him that loves you!
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. ~Romans 8:35, 37 (NIV)
