You have all the power in heaven behind you

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me...to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.  ~Isaiah 61:1,3 (NIV)

Jesus quoted these verses in the synagogue on the Sabbath and then told the congregation that those scriptures which had been written hundreds of years prior had been fulfilled that day.  No wonder He was the talk of the town!   Jesus was a revolutionary.  Religion didn’t determine His steps, God did.  The attitude that “this is the way we have always believed, and this is the way we have always done things” had no place in His heart.  He knew the word of God because He was the word of God!  Jesus knew Isaiah 52:15 by heart because He inspired it.  He tells us “For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not heard, they will understand." (NIV)  Jesus came to not only open the eyes of the physically blind.  He came to open the eyes of the spiritually blind.  Those of us who have held on to wrong beliefs that have kept us from walking in the destiny God has prepared are the very ones Jesus wanted to reach and to do that He did things contrary to what anyone would expect.  Do you?  When was the last time you grabbed the hand of a friend and prayed with them?  When was the last time you did something totally unexpected, yet totally scriptural?

The bible tells us Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit and He walked with the anointing of God on His life.  Jesus told His disciples it was better for them that He should go away; otherwise, He would not be able to send the Holy Spirit to them.  He also told them when the Holy Spirit did come upon them, they would receive power.  As we go through our day, we need to remember that we as believers have also been filled with the Holy Spirit who empowers us to accomplish above and beyond anything we could imagine with our own mind.  That same Holy Spirit that enabled Jesus to live a radical life lives on the inside of us and He wants to transform the mundane into the miraculous.  God hasn’t quit performing miracles.  Sometimes we just get complacent or even apathetic and quit expecting them.  Jesus said He was anointed to show people the good in life, to give them joy to replace their mourning and help them come to a place of praise instead of carrying around the heaviness of despair.  Jesus was an ambassador of hope.  He promoted healing where there was dis-ease in every form, whether the ailment was physical, mental, or emotional.  He wants to do that for us today and then He wants us to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit to go do that for others.  We can all be an ambassador of hope, but not without the power of the Holy Spirit.  Ask God to reveal to you by His Spirit where He wants to work to bring healing in the lives of others and then jump on board.  You have all the power of heaven behind you to perpetuate the kingdom of God and promote His purposes on this earth!

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him. ~Acts 10:38 (NIV)

What has God told you that you can expect for Him to do for you?
