Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.~ Romans 5:2 (AMPCE)
Jesus’s death on the cross has given every believer free and unhindered access to the throne of God. The Lord tells us in Romans 5:2 that it is through Jesus and by faith. We are also told in Hebrews 11:6 “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” (NIV) Some would say it is pretty easy to believe in God, but do we earnestly seek Him? The definition of earnestly has been described as ´seriously in intention, purpose, or effort; seriously important, demanding or receiving serious attention’. Is that how you seek God? Is your time with Him seriously important? Or do you put your time and relationship with the Lord on the “back burner” so to speak, thinking you will get to Him when everything else gets done? Not putting God first is always to our own detriment. The Lord says when we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him. Have you found God? Do you know what He says about you, your current situation and even your future? Those of us who do are earnestly expecting God to come through. We have His word that we are holding on to with all our hearts. We believe we will see our loved ones again who have gone to be with the Lord, and we believe that we will see the goodness of God in the land of the living. Earnestly seeking after the Lord will build our confidence in Him because through our relationship with Him, we see the Lord working in our lives and in the lives of those we love.
The Lord tells us in Ephesians 3:12 that “In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” (NIV) What is keeping you from approaching God? He says we have free access anytime. He is just a prayer away. He says we can approach Him with confidence and freedom; boldly. As a matter of fact, He tells us to come boldly in Hebrews 4:16 stating “Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].” (AMPCE) Do you need mercy for your failures? How about a little help in good time for every need? Notice God doesn’t say when we want it, but He does promise in good time we will receive the help we need. Many times, in scripture Jesus tells us to ask, and keep on asking. If you are not going to God boldly today, you are missing out. You can have an audience, a seat at the table if you will, with the creator of the universe who says He has seated you in heavenly places with Christ Jesus far above your circumstances!
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. ~Ephesians 2:6-7 (NIV)
