You can't be like someone you don't know

He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. ~2 Timothy 1:9 (NIV)

God’s word tells us it is for His purposes that we are to live a holy life.  He also reminds us in 1 Peter 1:16 that we are to follow in His footsteps saying, “Be holy, because I am holy.” (NIV)  To be holy means to be perfect in a moral sense, pure in heart, temper or dispositions; free from sin and sinful affections. Holy also indicates one is perfectly pure, immaculate, and complete in moral character.  We call someone holy whose heart is conformed to the image of God.  We say those who live by the word of God are holy people of God.  Do you believe you are holy?  If not, you do not fully understand what Jesus did for you on the cross.  You do not have a revelation of what being translated into His kingdom means.  If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, then you have been made holy and pure in God’s sight and that is way more real than what you see around you every day.  God’s perspective of you is the truth.  It supersedes what you do, what you see around you, and what others think.  He has lifted us up and seated us with Jesus in heavenly places.  Now we need to begin to live by that truth so that we can begin to experience who we truly are in Christ and enjoy every blessing He has prepared for us!

Making right and good choices are a direct result of knowing who we are in Christ and will create a holy disposition and life, just like not knowing who we are will cause us to make wrong choices that create an unholy disposition and life.  Scripture teaches that God’s grace is there and available to make the good and right choices and that grace has been there since we were born again.  The question is:  Are we pressing in to obtain God’s grace to live a holy life?  Or are we going our own way hoping God’s grace will fall into place for us to make good choices?  The amount of God’s grace you walk in to live a holy life is a direct reflection of the amount of time you put into your relationship with God.  You can’t be like someone that you do not know.  Nor can your image conform into an image you never behold.  What are you doing to become more like Jesus today?  What decisions are you making to line your life up with what you know God would expect?  The only way we are able to do this is to spend time with God in His word.  When we do, He brings that word back to our minds in every pertinent situation by the Spirit of Christ in us so that we are able to walk out His will on this earth.  He gives us the strength and vitality to say, "this is how I feel, but this is what I will do, because it is what honors you, Lord".  You cannot live a holy life without knowing what God has to say.   God has provided everything you need to be holy.  He has provided His grace and His word.  The supernatural ability to be pure in heart, temper, and disposition is available to all God’s children.  Receive that free gift of grace today and let your life be regulated by His Word.  Then your heart will be conformed to His image.

The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. ~Psalm 19:8 (NIV)
