Words shape lives

It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak” ~2 Corinthians 4:13 (NIV)

God created with words everything that we see. God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. The Lord tells us in Hebrews 11:3 “By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what is visible.” (NIV)  Paying off your debt isn’t determined by what you have in your bank account, it is determined by your faith.  Having what you need to accomplish God’s will in your life is not determined by the skills you can acquire; it is determined by the gifts God placed in you before you were born.  You are a child of God, and He is holding you in His hand.  His eye is always on you, but you have to believe He loves you and wants the best for you.  If you don’t believe that then your faith will only be in what you are able to accomplish and that is nil compared to what God wants to do in and through you. God has blessings of joy, peace and provision for every need stored up for you that you may not be experiencing, but they do exist.

We are taught a lot in the church about sowing, but very little teaching is going on about reaping.  What farmer goes out into the field and sows his seed only to look back and say, “I hope something comes of this”?  That would be ludicrous!  Farmers sow with an expectation to reap and we should too.  To sow good words over our lives and the lives of others is just to declare what God has already said.  But we have to know what God has already said!  We have to spend enough time with Him to have a firm understanding of what God has to say about anything and everything.  For instance, God says in Isaiah 54 that no weapon formed against you will prosper.  Have you felt any fiery darts lately?  Have you had any circumstances that caused you to question God’s love or His goodness?  Well, that is a weapon of the enemy that is coming against your faith.  When we know what God says in Isaiah 54, we can boldly declare over our lives and the lives of those we love that no weapon aimed at us is going to prosper.  When was the last time you “sowed” God’s word over your family, friends, or circumstances?  God sowed creation with words and reaped exactly of the order He spoke and so should we.  Speak positive words today and call those things that are not (visible) into your life.  Romans 4:17 refers to God as “the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not." (NIV)  Words shape lives, so if you face a problem today you can boldly say, “My problem is temporary. God’s Word says that I am an overcomer and not because of anything I have done but solely because of Christ’s love for me. Even though I don’t see the answers now, I am sowing positive words that God will provide for all of my needs.”   See if that declaration doesn't get you a little bit farther today in your heart, in your soul, in your mind and eventually in your life!

So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. ~Isaiah 55:11 (NIV)

When was the last time you “sowed” God’s word over your life?
