Where are you?

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. ~Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

What are you seeking right now? What is it that you want, or need or even hope for? The Lord is gently whispering to all of us every moment of every day to come to Him first, before we are overloaded, and He will give us rest. As we learn to rest in Him, He manifests His perfect will for our lives. Have you ever noticed that it’s usually when trouble hits that we go to the Lord? And when trouble hits, I mean really hits, most of those things that concern us or overload us fades away and what is most important tends to come to the surface. God wants us to live in the acknowledgement of the “most important” a lot more often than we are but to do that we need to develop a relationship with Him. He wants to reveal to us the truth of what is most important way before trouble hits. He wants us to see that relationships, first with Him and then with others, are more important than anything else in our lives. If you closed your eyes and imagined a beautiful future it would start and end with healthy, happy relationships with the ones that you love. The first requirement for those types of relationships is having a healthy, happy relationship with your Heavenly Father. Only He can show us how to love others the way we want to be loved. Submitting to God and His word enables us to love on a higher level than we would ever know because God’s love in us and through us is not conditional. When we love unconditionally, we love without borders and boundaries just the way the Lord loves us.

God promised His people in Ezekiel 36:26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (NIV) Your heart was recreated to desire a relationship with your heavenly Father. That is your heart’s desire! If the most important thing to us as believers is not our daily walk with God, then we are out of balance. If we are working toward our “soul desires” more than our “heart desire” then we will feel discontent and dissatisfaction until we allow God to give us His wisdom to reprioritize. We will be chasing the wind so to speak! What prayers are you waiting to be answered? Maybe, just maybe, you are not waiting on God. Maybe He is waiting on you. Could it be that God is waiting for you to change your mind and make your relationship with Him your first priority? Jesus outlines this truth for us by telling us to seek first and foremost His kingdom and His righteousness and everything else will be added to you. God says put your “heart’s desires” first and what your soul desires will be manifested in your life. If you don’t have a great relationship with the Lord, you will never be able to live the life you were created to live or be able to live to your fullest potential. Learn to walk with God in the cool of the day. You already have unbroken fellowship. Jesus gave His life for you to share yours with your heavenly Father!

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” ~Genesis 3:8-9 (NIV)
