We want what we want when we want it

Wisdom cries aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the market… ~Proverbs 1:20 (AMP)

We need to use wisdom to make good choices and the Holy Spirit will lead us into wisdom if we will simply ask Him to do so.  James 1:5 tells us “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (NIV)  God isn’t looking for a reason to keep you in the dark.  He isn’t trying to hold you back from knowing what you should do in any given situation.  He isn’t looking for some fault in your life that could create a loophole for Him to get out of His promise to provide wisdom.  He says “ask”.  We are the ones dropping the ball when it comes to receiving God’s wisdom to govern our lives and we do it by not asking Him for it.  We can be absolutely sure of one thing…if we fail to ask, we will not receive.  That is the prescription.  God says come to me and acknowledge me as your provider and protector.  He says ask and you will receive, and your joy will be made full.  He promises to be our good shepherd and to provide for every need.  He also says when we ask, we cannot be double minded.  A double minded person has no stability.  They ask one minute and start worrying again the next.   There is no faith that God will do what He says therefore God says that person should not expect to receive anything from Him.  When we ask for wisdom, we must ask in faith, believing that God is true to His word and that we will receive what He has promised.

The Lord says wisdom is crying out to you. Many times, it cries out in the form of the things you find yourself thinking you should or should not do (aka your conscience) —you should eat healthier; you should be kind to other people; you should not have negative conversations.  Has wisdom made her plea in your life lately?  Everyone has heard the phrase “my head is saying one thing, but my heart is saying another”.  Many times, when we follow what we think is our heart or our spirit, it’s really our flesh and our carnal mind.  Our flesh is always being stimulated by our emotions.  We want what we want when we want it.  God tells us in Galatians 5:16-17 “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.” (NKJV)  If you are a Christian the Lord says that you have a war going on inside of you every day.  The question is who is winning?  Your spirit or your flesh?  It’s all determined by our choices.  Every time you give in to your flesh it becomes stronger.  But every time you choose to follow the Spirit, your spirit gains strength.  The stronger your spirit becomes, the easier it is to make wise decisions.  Don’t let your flesh talk you into trying to get away with unwise decisions.  The bible refers to this as foolishness.  Foolishness will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay and cost you more than you want to pay.  God wants us to walk in wisdom and make choices now that we will be happy with later. If you are struggling with your flesh today, the bible say wisdom is crying out to you.  Get quiet before God and let Him help you make wise decisions that are going to benefit you for today and tomorrow!

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. ~Romans 8:1

Has wisdom made her plea in your life today? What path will you choose?
