We know God by His Spirit

But we have the mind of Christ. ~1 Corinthians 2:16 (NIV)

We as believers have the unique opportunity to experience the divine evidence of having the mind of Christ every day as the Lord reveals Himself and His wisdom to us by His Holy Spirit. Before we have the Spirit of God, we are incapable of comprehending the wisdom of God. It wasn't rhetoric or logic that brought any of us to God, it was His Holy Spirit. Therefore, without being transformed by the Spirit we are completely lost in our own dim light of reasoning. God tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:14 “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.” (NIV) When we receive the Spirit of God we have the mind of Christ, because the Holy Spirit is the mind of Christ. The life that God has predestined for us, and all of His blessings are slowly revealed to us by the Holy Spirit as we are able to receive them by faith. We are told in I Corinthians 2:9-10 ”What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived—the things God has prepared for those who love Him these are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit.” (NIV) It has been said that the Holy Spirit is as much in God himself as a man’s mind is in man himself. The Spirit of God knows the things of God because he is one with God, just as you are one with your mind. Even as none of us could come to know what another person is thinking without that person communicating or revealing it to him, so we cannot know the counsels and purposes of God unless the Holy Spirit reveals them to us. The same Holy Spirit that “searches the mind of God” lives on the inside of every believer.

We who know the Lord should be firmly convinced that God isn’t keeping any secrets from His children, and He isn’t holding anything back. Jesus said it is finished. The work for your redemption and renewal and the provision for your future has already been paid for and established. Everything is prepared and God says He has set the table for you in the presence of your enemies. All of creation is watching and waiting to see God's children walk in the victory God has preordained for them. As we trust God’s providence and provision for our material needs, we must also work with the Lord to prepare our hearts to receive everything else He has for us by faith; all His knowledge, understanding, discernment and even contentment. Next time a question arises in your heart, remember you have the mind of Christ. Ask God and He will uncover every mystery. But remember the words of the Spirit in James 1:5-8 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.” (NIV) Knowing what God has done on our behalf, who could not say that our God is truly an awesome God?

“This is what the Lord says—the Lord who made the earth, who formed and established it, whose name is the Lord: Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come." ~Jeremiah 33:2-3 (NLT)
