We can overcome adversity

In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.  ~2 Timothy 3:12 (NIV)

To persecute someone means to “harass persistently”.  Some synonyms would be to worry, badger, bother or pester.  God’s word tells us we are to expect it.  The Word of God addresses our enemy as the “accuser of the brethren” and in the book of Job, Satan had access to accuse mankind to God, but after Jesus received all authority in heaven and on earth, the bible teaches the enemy was cast down.  We read in Revelation 12:10-11 “For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” (NIV)  We can overcome adversity by leaning into the position that Christ has purchased for us through His blood and by our testimony of that truth.  Grace is our portion as believers in Christ Jesus.  God says undeserved favor is ours if only we believe.   But believing isn’t always as easy as it sounds.  We reveal our faith by our actions.  If we aren’t acting like God’s word is true, we aren’t going to experience any of the great blessings we find within His word.  Have you learned to talk back to those nagging thoughts that tell you nothing is ever going to change?   If not, it’s time you did!  Your enemy has been “hurled down” in the heavens, now it’s time you hurl him down on earth.  What you are saying is your testimony.  Pay attention to your testimony today and find out if what you are saying brings hope to the scene or drama and dread.  Spewing drama and dread is a bad habit that we just need to get rid of by going cold turkey and cutting it out of our lives!

Since the enemy does not have access to accuse us before God anymore, he spends his days and nights accusing us directly.  The battlefield is in the mind of the believer, but scripture teaches we triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.  Notice the word triumphed is past tense.  You already have the victory over your enemy and over any thoughts, ideas, or visions he tries to bring your way to create fear, worry, anxiety and every other form of adversity in your life.  The enemy can only accuse and abuse you if you let him, if you believe his lies instead of calling him a liar!  Now that you know the truth, you don’t have to passively listen to the lies of the enemy anymore.  You have everything you need and are everything you need to be in Christ Jesus to accomplish God’s will for your life.  When you received Jesus as your Savior His blood covered your sin.  Now as you live your life as a believer, the word of your testimony gives you victory over the enemy.  Jesus said in Revelation 3:21 “He who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant him to sit beside Me on My throne, as I Myself overcame (was victorious) and sat down beside My Father on His throne.” (AMPCE) Let your testimony today be in direct correlation to what God has said.  Let it be that He loves you and will see you through.  Say out loud that He is your healer, He is your provider, He is your very best friend!  God is faithful, so when the devil starts talking about how big your problems are, remind him of how big your God is. You are destined to reign in life!

For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. ~Romans 5:17 (NIV)

What lies has the enemy been telling you about your “situations”?
