Trust God with your tomorrows

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. ~Proverbs 3:5 (AMP)

Just because something seems right doesn’t necessarily make it right.  That is why it is so important to know what the Lord has to say about everything, and we are only able to do that by staying in His word and spending time in fellowship with Him.  Jesus said in John 15:7 "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you". (NIV)  Just as we have the option to remain in God’s word, we also have the option to abstain from God’s word.  If we abstain from Gods word, His word has no place in our hearts.  Jesus said out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  What is abundant in your heart?  How much of God’s word is coming out of your mouth?  If it isn’t much, you might want to consider how much time you are spending with the Lord.  Have you ever sincerely considered what Jesus was thinking when He told us to ask for whatever we wished and it would be done for us?  Those are bold words from a bold King who is above all powers and authorities.  He holds the keys to both heaven and hell, and He says ask for whatever you wish and it will be done for you.  Now that is something to think about.  What are you asking for?  Are those prayers getting answered?  If your prayers are not getting answered, you might want to consider what you are doing with the Word of God.  Are you in God's word?  Is God's word in you?  Those are prerequisites to a victorious prayer life!

Every day brings with it an opportunity to live for God or for ourselves.  God tells us in Deuteronomy 30:19 "This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.  Now choose life, so that you and your children may live". (NIV)  It seems pretty simple but the truth is from the time our eyes open in the morning until we go to bed at night the whole world comes against us to distract us from putting God's word first, which is the one thing God says will bring blessing to us and that promise is even extended to our children.  When we choose to live by the word of God, we choose life.  God’s understanding is higher than ours and He reveals His wisdom and knowledge through His word and His Spirit inside us.  We are told in Proverbs 3:5 to not go looking for our own answers but to trust in God alone.  But trusting God is not always easy, especially with our tomorrows.  We want to figure everything out to make sure our world is going to be okay, but God says let it be His job to take care of you.  He says ask and receive.  Jesus built the bridge between asking and received and the foundation of that bridge is God's word.  There are some issues in your life you will never be able to wrap your understanding around.  With those God is saying “Don’t go there!”  He bids us to trust Him with everything from the little to the big and everything in between!  Today, remember just as God took care of you yesterday, He is taking care of all your tomorrows too.  Give His word first place in your life.  Go ahead and open your bible and see what He has to say.  Then enjoy your day and trust in His amazing love for you!

The Lord our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions. ~Deuteronomy 29:29 (NLT)
