There's more to life than meets the eye

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. ~2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)

Believers know there is more to life than meets the eye.  We are spiritual beings with spiritual needs that must be met by our God.  We don’t just live and act how we want to because we have Gods word to guide us into all truth and slowly but surely, He is breaking down strongholds in our life that sets us a little freer every day.  When we fix our eyes on what is seen, it can hold us back and we can become stagnant.  We have to fix our eyes on what is unseen to move forward.  We have to have a revelation or vision accompanied by wisdom to carry our faith from seed to harvest.  Where do you want to be 5 years from now?  God has some awesome things He wants to do in our lives, and He is just waiting for us to believe that they are possible.  When we learn to trust and believe that God loves us unconditionally and although we are not sinless, we are blameless, we can dare to hope.  What do you need to dare to hope for?  God wants us to spend time with Him so that we can learn to dream bigger than what we can conceive of ourselves.  We all have desires and dreams and even situations that we long to see changed in our lives or in the world around us.  We need to go to the Lord and let Him give us His perspective and a vision for change.  Then we need to write those things down and fix our eyes on how we would like our world to be different.  Seeking God’s guidance will enable us to do great things in life and it will also bring glory to God because we can’t help but tell anyone who will listen how great our God is!

We don’t have to figure out how to make it all happen, we have a Heavenly Father that already has everything figured out.  We just need to trust that God knows how to make it happen and believe that He will.  God wants us to participate but we need to remember that He alone is the way maker.  We need to dream big and every day prayerfully, take steps toward our dreams.  Our Lord Jesus prayed, “Your will be done on earth even as it is in heaven.”  That should be our first prayer.  When we pray that way, we are partnering with the Lord in prayer so that the purposes and plans He has for us will come to pass on earth—in our lives and in the lives of those around us.  Then we need to remember that God’s will is the good and perfect will for us no matter what things look like from this side of Heaven.  It’s through that kind of prayer that we have the privilege of bringing heaven to earth!

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.  All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. ~Philippians 3:13-15 (NIV)
