There is unlimited power and potential in every act of kindness!

And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. ~Mark 10:16 (NKJV)

Even the smallest acts of kindness have the potential to turn life around for someone who has lost their way or is suffering from emotional or physical pain. How often do we underestimate the power of kind words, a listening ear, a smile or even an honest compliment? Jesus did not underestimate the great potential of taking the time, so He made it happen. In Luke 6:19 we read “and the people all tried to touch Him, because power was coming from Him and healing them all.” (NIV) Scripture teaches we are able to carry the same power and anointing that Jesus carried on this earth by faith in God through the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself told us in John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (NKJV) Could it be that some of those greater works that Jesus was talking about might just be putting your arm around someone who needs a hug right now? Could it be we have a different perspective than God when it comes to what a miracle truly is? Or even what a great miracle is? Is it possible God wants us all to be performing miracles every day? Maybe those simple acts of kindness seem small to us but for someone who needs a kind word it could be along the same caliber as parting the Red Sea! Have you ever seen someone’s face light up when you told them you loved their hair style? Have you ever watched a child succeed at something they did not believe they could do, all because you believed in them and for them?

It’s not money or power or success that gives us joy in our heart, it is love. We cannot live without it because we were created for it, to love God and to love others. Scripture teaches that God is love. He personifies love. If you want to be more like your heavenly Father, you are going to have to personify love also. That is what Jesus did. He did not go around telling people that He really didn’t have time for them because He had to stick to His mission. Having time for people was His mission! What is your mission? How are you demonstrating your love for others today? We don’t show our love by how much money we can throw at a bad situation to relieve distress or bring comfort. Sure, money has a purpose and others need our financial help, but money is not our most valuable resource to share. That would be our time. One of the greatest ways to show your love is by giving of your time! Who or what is getting your greatest resource today? You can rest assured that those who are closest to you know what gets your love. Having hobbies and passions are great and enjoying your job is literally a blessing from the Lord, but none of those things should get more time than showing others the love of God. That must be our mission. In doing so, we could just be the miracle someone has been praying and waiting for. Take a minute and be a blessing by giving everywhere God reveals to you there is a need! Give a hug, put a smile on someone's face, share a kind word or compliment, lend a listening ear…there is unlimited power and potential in every act of kindness!

Stay on good terms with each other, held together by love. Be ready with a meal or a bed when it’s needed. Why, some have extended hospitality to angels without ever knowing it! Regard prisoners as if you were in prison with them. Look on victims of abuse as if what happened to them had happened to you. ~Hebrews 13:1-3 (MSG)
