There is blessing for your diligence

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on His law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. ~Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV)

We can’t do God’s will if we don’t know God’s will. God’s will is found in His word and the very first Psalm teaches us the benefits of spending time meditating on God’s word. To meditate on God’s word is to ponder, contemplate and remind ourselves of what He has said. It brings prosperity in every area of our lives and the reason it does is because God’s ways are higher than our ways. When we meditate on Him and His ways, He enables us to see things in our lives that we wouldn’t otherwise see on our own. He opens our mind to His wisdom. The Lord tells us in 3 John 1:2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper, even as thy soul prospereth.” (KJV) Soul prosperity doesn’t come cheap. It requires discipline and diligence. Our mind, our will and our emotions have to become subject to God’s word and we must learn to be led by the Holy Spirit for our soul to prosper. Our spirit man prospered the day we got born again, but our carnal man still has a long way to go. Learning to live the way the Lord has called us to requires constant consideration of our ways and we must prayerfully ask God to set a guard over both our minds and our mouths!

It has been said where the mind goes the man follows. Psalm 1:3 states those who meditate on God’s word are like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not whither. I don’t know about you but that’s the kind of person I want to be. I want to be stable and confident that provision and strength will always be there at just the right time. That kind of life comes from knowing the Lord and trusting in Him. There is a difference between knowing of the president of the United States and actually knowing the president of the United States and the difference is access. When you know someone, you can call them up! The bible teaches we have access to the very throne of God. We can dial up God any time, any day. The Lord also promises to reward those who seek Him. Don't seek riches and glory, seek God and you will know true riches and glory. Real prosperity is not bucket loads of money. It’s being able to enjoy what you have and the day the Lord has set before you. Only God can give us that because only God can give us JOY! That doesn’t mean God only wants us to barely get by because God blesses us to be a blessing and if we are barely getting by, how can we bless others? Meditate on God’s word and spend time with Him every day and He promises you the kind of prosperity that will bless you and make you a blessing to others for your diligence to His Word!

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. ~Joshua 1:8 (NIV)
