The benefits of choosing your words wisely are endless

The sky and the earth won’t last forever, but my words will. ~Matthew 24:35 (CEV)

The word of God carries more authority than any person, any group, any nation, or any agenda.  There is no authority higher than the word of God because Jesus is the word of God.  We read in John 1:1 “In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.” (AMPC)  God is His Word just like your words are you.  Your life always lines up with your words!  So, the big question is, what is your word?  What words are you speaking?  Scripture teaches the words we are speaking are calling into existence our future.  We are told if we can control our tongue, we are mature and can control our whole body.  Have you ever felt like you were not in control of your body?  That can be a frightening experience. But scripture teaches we do not have to live that way and the answer can be as simple as changing what we are speaking.  We are taught in Proverbs 18:21 “The tongue has power over life and death; those who indulge it must eat it’s fruit. (CEB)  Have you ever indulged in idle words?  Those are words that we speak without taking into consideration that our words create just like Gods words create.  There are consequences to every word and idle words are careless words.  We are called to speak on purpose and you for sure cannot do that if you say anything that comes into your head.  God spoke on purpose when He laid the foundations of the world.  He thought about what He wanted to happen, and He spoke it.  Could you imagine the benefits of being mindful of every word you spoke?  The benefits of choosing your words wisely are endless.  Paying attention to every conversation we have will keep us from “bottom feeding” on the things of this world!

Jesus said in Matthew 12:33 “A good tree produces only good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit.  You can tell what a tree is like by the fruit it produces.” (CEV)  James reiterates the words of Jesus in James 3:9-11 stating “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and saltwater flow from the same spring?” (NIV)  You won’t ever start living on purpose if you don’t start speaking on purpose. Line your will up with God’s will and you will become an overcomer no matter what the obstacle.  God has promised success for His people.  We cannot fail with God on our side and God is always on our side, especially when we choose to surrender our lives and become like Him.  Just like Jesus did.  Remember, we are supposed to be conforming to the likeness of Christ.  We are supposed to be becoming more and more brave at surrendering what we think to what God says.  You can choose today to keep finding yourself in the same position you were in yesterday or to start speaking your way to victory. We do that by speaking God’s word in and into every situation we encounter!

“As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord. ~Isaiah 59:21 (NIV)
