But the Lord said to me, Say not, I am only a youth; for you shall go to all to whom I shall send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Be not afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord. Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. ~Jeremiah 1:7-9 (AMPCE)
God doesn’t tell us to do things we cannot do. At first, we might need His help, just like a child needs their parents’ help, but we are able, and we will get better with time. In Romans 8:37 the Lord teaches us “in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (NKJV) More than conquerors tells us that the battle was won before we even showed up on the battlefield. That is what God promised us in Zechariah 4:6 “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.” (NIV) We have been called to do a job, a very big job. We are called to share the Gospel and all Jesus’ teachings with the world. We are expected to fulfill this mission with not only our words, but with our lifestyles. That is the greatest witness. Jesus used parables or similitudes when teaching the people. A similitude is an illustration of divine truths taken from things that are familiar and common. In John 10:2-4 Jesus tells His disciples “He who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. The watchmen opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out. When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep following him because they know his voice.” (AMPCE)
Many people read this parable and picture Jesus as the shepherd, but Jesus actually refers to Himself as the door. We are the shepherds here. We are those whom the world is listening to. It’s yours and my voice that people hear to bring them out of bondage. It's God's words, but our voice. Our words hold power but not near the power Gods word’s do. When we speak God’s words over our lives and the lives of our loved ones, we speak powerful words that change this world. Just as God’s word created our universe, His words uphold it. We are anointed to perpetuate Jesus’ ministry on earth to preach the good news to the poor and afflicted and to proclaim liberty to those who are captive to sin, sickness or anything else the enemy holds them in. We are anointed to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor to all who will listen. Who do you know that needs to hear the good news today that God isn’t holding their sin against them? Who do you know that needs to hear that God has reconciled them to Himself through Jesus’ sacrifice? Who is watching you to see if you are living what you say you believe? Are you walking in a right relationship with God? Are you living the abundant life Jesus says He came to give you? Start confessing today that you are more than a conqueror and it will change your life and as you believe it and live it, the Lord will use it to help change the lives of others He puts in your path. Acknowledge and accept your role as a “proclaimer of the Gospel of Jesus Christ” and a child of the Living God. Always be ready to share with others why you believe in the Lord and live in a way that leads others to good pastures!
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. ~1 John 3:1 (NIV)
Who do you know that needs to hear the good news that God is here and ready deliver them from all their troubles? Will you go share that good news?
