Revelation Knowledge

Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know. ~Jeremiah 33:3 (AMPCE)

God doesn’t want to keep us in the dark about situations and circumstances in our lives.  He tells us plainly to call to Him and He will answer and show us things we do not know.  That is called revelation knowledge, and we were recreated by God to walk and commune with Him every day to receive His knowledge and understanding.  The Lord wants us to walk in His wisdom, not our own.  When the enemy tempted Adam and Eve in the garden, he was telling them they could become like God, knowing right from wrong for themselves, they would not need to hear from God but could turn to their own carnal mind instead.  They could do all this through intellectual reasoning.  This reasoning is the very opposite of revelation knowledge.  Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (NIV)  Reasoning will interrupt our communion with God and our ability to receive His truth and His wisdom.  All our reasoning is skewed and flawed because we are not God.  The Lord tells us in Isaiah 55:9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (NIV)

It’s time we repent for trying to figure everything out for ourselves through reasoning and spend some time with God so we can obtain revelation knowledge.  There is a three letter word that we are told to do and we are admonished for not doing it throughout the New Testament.  That word is “ask”.  How often do we fail to ask for God’s wisdom?   When the Lord tells us in His word to pray without ceasing, what do you think that means?  It doesn’t mean we sit down with a prayer list and recite it over and over again.  The Lord says that is what the “heathens” or those who do not know Him do.  The Lord wants us to make Him a part of our everyday life.  He wants us to ask for His wisdom when we have rebooted our computer 3 times and still can’t get a program to work.  He wants us to ask Him to reveal to us the opportunities that He brings our way that we are missing.  He even wants us to ask Him to help us navigate through moments in the day when we are disappointed, discouraged or even when our flesh just wants to throw a fit.  That is praying without ceasing.  It’s communing with the Lord about anything and everything just like we would a trusted friend.  He is the friend that will never leave you or forsake you!  Don’t you think it’s time you learn to hear from the Lord about what He wants you to do and how He wants you to do it?  If your tired of trying to do it alone then take some advice from Jesus.  He tells us in John 5:19 “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” (NIV)  Don't be so intellectual you miss a spiritual encounter with God today.  His promise to be there for you every minute of every day is found in Revelation 3:20 where He says He is standing at the door of our heart knocking.  He wants to commune with His family!

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. ~ James 1:5 (NIV)

What have you asked God for His wisdom regarding today? Where do you need guidance and direction?
