Remind Him of His promises!

God chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless in God’s presence before the creation of the world. ~Ephesians 1:4 (CEB)

We all have regrets, but those regrets do not have to hold us back or destroy our future. Faith in God’s word breaks the spell of regret on our lives. We are told in Ephesians 1:4 that God chose us to be holy and blameless in His presence before He ever created the world. If you are a believer in the good news of the finished work of Jesus Christ, then that is where you are standing right now, holy and blameless in God’s presence. Nothing we do comes as a surprise to God. He knows when and how we will fail before we ever do it and there is no way we can fatally broadside His love or His plan for our lives. But we do still have an enemy who is alive and well and spending his time reminding us of our past and all our regrets. When we focus on them long enough, they paralyze us. We begin to become idle and avoid moving forward because we fear failure or even loss. But the truth of God’s word says if we have repented, God remembers our sin no more. It’s a tragedy when we allow ourselves to keep bringing it back up to Him when He says our transgressions have been atoned for after we have confessed and repented. Instead of reminding God of our sin, we should be reminding ourselves and Him of His promises. He tells us in Proverbs 24:16 "though the righteous man falls seven times, they rise again." (NIV) That means nothing can keep us down because God Himself lifts us up. With God on our side the harder we fall the higher we bounce!

Don't you think it's time we start reminding ourselves and each other of all Gods wonderful promises to us? It's those promises that inspire us to dream big. One of the greatest promises we have ever been given is the promise that we have been made righteous in God’s sight. The Lord tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:21 “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (NIV) The word of God is filled with promises He has made to those whom He has made righteous. Do you know what those promises are? God says that the path of the righteous shines brighter and brighter, He says the righteous will grow stronger and stronger, He also says the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers. We need to quit praying and hoping God hears us and start praying with faith in His word that He has promised to hear us. Take a minute to think about how you really want this day to go. or even this year for that matter. Thank God for His faithfulness. Then step out and go for it! Whatever it is He has called you to do. Your sin is not holding you back anymore and God is not mad at you. God promises us in Psalm 103:12 “He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.” (NLT) There is nothing you can encounter that you cannot handle with God and He says all His promises are “yes’” for you!

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through Him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God. ~2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV)

What promises have you found in God's word that you have been reminding Him about?
