Power to Tread

The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. ~1 John 3:8b (NIV)

It has been said that when we have sin in our soul and sickness in our bodies it bears witness to the power of the enemy on this earth.  Sin and sickness were not part of God’s plan for us when He created mankind.  God never wanted our bodies or our minds to be broken down or infested with the lie that it is a part of life.  When Jesus spoke of any sickness in the bible, He always referred to it as an evil caused by sin and the enemy.  1 John 3:8 puts that information in perspective for us.  The whole reason Jesus came was to destroy the devil’s work.  Has the enemy been working in your life?  Has sin or sickness got you down?  Bad habits, depression, anxiety, physical ailments… they all make us candidates for a miracle.  We are told in Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him”. (NIV)  Contrary to what most religions would like to tell you, God has the same plan for your life and mine.  If you are a born-again child of God, recreated in Christ Jesus, then God is with you just like He was with Jesus.  God is with you in the form of the Holy Spirit.  He is the anointing or presence of God in your life.  The same anointing that enabled us to be born again heals our bodies, helps us to succeed in business, and empowers us to prosper spirit, soul, and body.  There is no aspect of our life that is not touched by that anointing.  We are not only hand-picked by God for salvation; we are empowered by God to live free from the corruption of the world.  God tells us in 2 Peter 1:4 that we can participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world.  You have been (past tense) delivered from the power of the enemy, now God expects you to believe that word and walk in it.

Are you participating in the divine nature of God?  Are you progressively becoming more and more acquainted with the truth of God’s word?  If not, you aren’t going to be much of a witness to His authority and power over an unseen enemy in this world.  Jesus said blessed are those who believe but have not seen.  That does not mean He expects us never to see Him show up in our lives.  We believe before we see because we know that everything that we see came from what was unseen.  We have been told that faith is the substance of things hoped for.  You can’t see faith, but you can see what you hope for when it is manifested in your life.  Are you giving what you hope for in your life substance by applying your faith to your hopes?  Earnest expectation that God will bring to pass what He has promised is a result of combining your faith with your hope.  If you aren’t earnestly expecting, then you aren’t believing and that is a key element in receiving.  If we aren’t receiving and overcoming in the kingdom of God for our generation then what kind of example are we being?  If the Lord has given us authority and power to live a life that draws people to Himself and we aren’t using it we are doing our Lord, ourselves, and those around us a huge disservice!  Count on your prayers being answered.  Count on your God making a way where there seems to be no way.  You have been given power to tread!

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. ~Luke 10:19 (KJV)

Are you participating in the divine nature of God? Are you progressively becoming more and more like Him?
