Magnify the Lord with me

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering and come into His courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness. ~1 Chronicles 16:29 (NIV)

Worship will magnify and enlarge our vision of God.  Of course, His size doesn’t change, but our perception of Him will as we ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name.  The more we honor Jesus for being our Savior, our Healer, our Provider, our Strength, and the lifter of our head, the more we are able to see just how much He is working in our lives.  When we draw close to God through worship, He becomes bigger in our lives, and we all need a big view of God because we all have big questions, big trials, and big troubles.  We need to know our God is bigger than our circumstances; otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to believe that he has lifted us above them.  Praise and worship both come from a grateful heart and a grateful heart comes from a keen understanding of God’s great mercy and grace.  When we understand God’s grace, we know that undeserved mercy and favor flows to us constantly.  Grace continually gives us another chance to get it right.  There is no more shame and no more condemnation.  Grace teaches us that trying a little harder or doing it a little better is not how we succeed.  Spending more time with our God and Savior is what determines our success spiritually and physically because the Lord changes us from the inside out and He starts by changing our minds and our perspective.  He replaces what has been “instilled” in us with His own wisdom and understanding.  The success God brings to our lives perpetuates praise and worship because we see that He alone is our source.  He is our everything!

Worship not only gives us a bigger view of God, worship will also put our view of ourselves into perspective.  We are able to overcome anything and everything in this life with a right perspective of where we stand or kneel in the midst of our adversity.  The bible teaches we have been given access straight to the throne of God.  Not as a sinner begging for mercy but as a dearly loved child.  We worship Jesus and what His life, death and resurrection means to us because that is what made it all possible to become a child of God.  It means we already have the victory over that bad habit.  It means that we have the ability to keep our mouths closed when everything in us wants to scream “Why me, Lord?” because we are trusting that we are going to see the goodness of the Lord!  The life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ means that we are overcomers in the world as we face giants and pray down strongholds.  Doesn’t that make you want to worship God?  He has given you a new life, He has filled you with His Spirit and His grace flows to you without ceasing.  His mercies are new every morning and you are more than a conqueror through Him.  This life you now live is by faith in the Son of God, who loves you and gave Himself up for you to live abundantly in every area of your life!  David tells us in Psalm 34:3 “Oh magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” (ESV)  Take time to worship God every day and watch your worries become smaller as you bring the Lord to the forefront of your life.  Worship Him because He is worthy of your praise and worship.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. ~John 4:23-24 (NIV)

What was “instilled” in you that you allowed the Lord to replace with His perspective?
