Let's bless others and let God bless us!

Whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever desires to be first among you must be your slave—just as the Son of Man came not to be waited on but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many... ~Matthew 20:26–28 (AMPCE)

According to scripture, it doesn’t sound like being the greatest person in the room is the most fun place to be. And it’s definitely not what our flesh would consider being on top. It's human nature to want to be first place and our culture adds fuel to that fire. We don’t usually play to lose we play to win. We want to be successful in everything we do and that is not a bad goal. But to be the best of the best we have to do it God’s way. God says to be great among others we must get better and better at serving. Jesus said He didn’t come to be waited on but to serve. If you are in a position where you feel like you have arrived at a place where others should be waiting on you then you have missed it by a mile. We never arrive to that place because that place is not our goal. Our goal as believers should be to serve more and more.

Reasoning in our mind will stop us from serving quicker than anything. Take a look at the parable of the workers in the vineyard for example. The landowner goes out at 9am and hires a few workers, then out at noon and hires a few more, then at 5 he brought in a few more. Scripture teaches us that at evening time, he called his foreman to pay the workers and had him pay everyone the same wage and we are taught that caused quite a grumbling. Why? Because the workers were reasoning in their mind, they were comparing themselves between each other. They weren’t there to give but to get. They weren’t serving the landowner as unto the Lord, they were there for a paycheck. This all came out when the wallet came out. When we start looking at others and what they have or get, we stop promoting them and start promoting ourselves. God tells us in Proverbs 25:6-7 “Do not exalt yourself in the king’s presence, and do not claim a place among his great men; it is better for him to say to you, “Come up here,” than for him to humiliate you before his nobles.” (NIV) It has been said that we get all we want in life, when we help enough people get all they want in life. Helping others shine and make progress in this life is the lifestyle we are called to live. Who are you helping today? Let’s bless others and let God bless us. He can bless us much better than we can bless ourselves!

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. ~Galatians 6:7-9 (KJV)

How do you plan to serve others today? Will you do it with a willing and obedient heart to God?
