You should live in a way that proves you belong to the God who calls you into His kingdom and glory. ~1 Thessalonians 2:12 (GW)
We live in a way that proves we belong to God by making what’s important to God important to us. He promises us success for every area of our lives where we will put Him first. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well,” (NIV) Seeking God’s kingdom is seeking God’s will and how He operates in the world. Finding out how Jesus would handle a situation and walking in that wisdom enables us to walk with the power and authority that Jesus wielded because that is exactly what He did. Scripture confirms Jesus got up early and retreated often to spend time with His Heavenly Father and to find out exactly what God wanted Him to do. We are told in Ephesians 5:15-17 “Make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to.” (TLB) When was the last time you asked God what He wanted you to do? Acting thoughtlessly is haphazard. It’s without purpose. We are called to live on purpose and actively seek God’s will for our lives. Do you know God’s will for your life? It’s the number one question posed to Pastors and Christian counselors around the world. We want to know God’s will for our lives because we innately know that doing things God’s way is going to bring about more success and progress than doing things our own way, even if it isn’t always comfortable.
Do you need success in your relationships with others? Then put Him first in that area. If you want to have friends, you have to be a friend. We reap what we sow. What about in your finances? Scripture confirms we are to live to give, and God promises that the generous will be blessed. Have you put God to the test in that area? He tells us in Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” (NIV) The “tithe” under the old covenant was 10 percent, but under the new covenant the example given was that the believers gave it all! Everything we have belongs to God! Maybe it’s at your job where you need to start following God’s principles more closely. Are you faithful? Do you work for others as unto the Lord? Do you work as hard when you are not being watched as you do when you are? These are all principles that God has set forth in His word. It’s time we start handling things the way God tells us to and to do that we must love God’s word, then learn God’s word and then live God’s word. That kind of lifestyle will bring glory to God and after all He has done for us, who would not want to bring glory to God? Moses asked God “Show me your glory” and God responded to Moses “I will make my goodness pass before you”. When you seek Gods glory, He makes His goodness pass before you!
Everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen. ~Romans 11:36 (NLT)
