He's got the whole world in His hand

If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?] ~Romans 8:31 (AMPCE)

Feeling fear is part of living in a fallen world.  Our fears may be based on actual threats, or they may be based on perceived threats.  Our fears can be anything from failure at a business endeavor to sickness in our body and everything in between.  None of our fears mean that we are cowards, it just means that we are human.  We can only be cowardly when we allow our fears to dictate our actions and decisions.  The word fear means “to take flight” or “to run away from".  Fear causes us to want to run away from what God wants us to confront.  It's not those who flee that overcome their adversities, but those who confront them, trusting in God all the way.  We can't run because we can't quit our way to success.  Sometimes we must step out and do it afraid.  The Lord tells us in 1 Timothy 6:12 "Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…" (NIV) Taking hold of something requires some action.  Living what you believe, doing the right thing, pressing forward despite the odds...they all require good old fashion gumption.  God says get your gumption from knowing He is for you and if He is for you then who or what can possibly stand against you?  We shake off our fears and achieve ultimate success by pursuing the Lord in everything.  Our desires should be to know what God has to say about each and every situation we encounter.  Every obstacle that is placed before us has a way around, over or through and God knows which way is best.  He says if any of us lacks wisdom we should ask Him because He is ready to generously pour out His wisdom on us.  Jesus said ask and keep on asking, seek and keep on seeking, knock and keep on knocking…that isn’t because the Lord likes to hear repetitive prayers. He says don’t pray the same thing over and over “like the heathen do.”  Jesus was telling us to pursue Him only.  To pursue Him and His kingdom, which is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit and everything else would be added to us.  What questions are you pursuing God to answer?  What desires are you pursuing God to fulfill?  What habits are you pursuing God to help you change?  What is it that you are asking, seeking, and knocking for today?

The Lord promises us that everything that was available to Jesus when He walked on this earth is now available to believers by grace.  From wisdom to provision to the ability to discipline ourselves to live a godly life, all has been allocated to us, but we have to pursue God and receive it by faith.  With this revelation we can live boldly and courageously because God has told us that He is our strength and our provider.  He has promised to be with us, and He is for us.  God is on our team!  Because of that knowledge we can choose to disregard the fear we feel and press on.  We can shake off every doubt because we know that God is calling us to do great things every day.  Don’t fear and shrink back from anything.  Your attitude towards the tasks before you today will determine the outcome.  Remember in each of them that God is with you, and if He is with you, then you can accomplish anything.  He has got the whole world in His hand!

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

What is it that you are asking, seeking, and knocking about today?
