God will pick you up and dust you off

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. ~Genesis 3:8 (NIV)

Up until Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they walked with Him daily.  Sin caused division between God and mankind, but Jesus came to restore that relationship and reestablish the communion that was lost.  Jesus tells us in John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (NIV)  Every day of your life, sin crouches at your door.  God told Cain in Genesis 4:7 “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” (NIV)  That can be an intimidating thought for any believer.  But God did not say ruling over sin was a choice, He said it was a responsibility.  He said we must rule over what is trying to rule over us.  Those “unprofitable things”, the habits that take and never give back, like worry, addiction, bad attitudes, and a critical spirit.  They all cause us to do and say things contrary to who we truly are and what we believe.  The truth about you and I is found in God’s word.  We were created to rule over the circumstances of life.  The Lord tells us in 1 John 5:4 “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world -our faith.” (ESV) Faith is one of the greatest gifts because it is the means by which we receive grace, and it is by believing in the grace of God that we are able to walk in freedom.  Jesus said He came to set the captives free.  That was us and we have already been set free.  We are children of God, and He has made us new creations in Christ Jesus.  He says we are kings and priests unto God our Father.  We are ambassadors here to represent Him.  Sure, we fall and fail, but we aren’t fallen, and we are not failures.  God has lifted us up and says we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  If we are in Christ Jesus, we have already overcome because He has already overcome.  We just need to develop and utilize our faith to believe in the finished work of our Lord and Savior.

It’s never too late to turn your life around.  As long as we still have breath in our body, we have the choice to live in the light of who God says we are.  Make that choice today.  It takes obedience and sometimes It requires humility.  We might even have to say “I did it my way Lord, but it didn’t get me anywhere.  Please help me to do it your way from now on.”  That’s the prayer He wants to hear from us so that He can pick us up, dust us off and restore our joy and send us times of refreshing!  Letting go of things and letting God's truth reign in your life will free you like nothing else!  Remember, the servants that got to see the miraculous were the ones that despite their doubts filled the jars to the brim full of water.  They saw the water turned to wine that day because they weren’t trying to turn the water to wine themselves, they were being obedient and believing in the One who could turn the water into wine!

For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. ~Luke 18:14 (NIV)

What miracle are you dreaming big and trusting God for today?
