Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will. ~Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)
Have you ever wondered why God made you or what you are here for? Have you ever thought you might like to know why you were created and what Gods perfect will for your life is? Those questions have been pondered by every believer. We are born again with a desire to live for and worship the Lord who saved us. We have “a view of God’s mercy” that the world knows nothing about, and it spurs us to want to be godly people and to become everything He has created us to be. Scripture teaches we are to offer our bodies as living sacrifices. Our bodies are the tool we use to operate on this earth. It’s what we use to work and to help others. We aren’t going to be able to offer our bodies to the Lord until we allow Him to change our minds and our perspectives. We need to come to look at things from Gods perspective by renewing our minds with His word. The greatest and most amazing miracle we will ever experience is the rebirth. When we were recreated in Christ Jesus, we became a whole new species of being. It was a supernatural birth, and it is the evidence that we have been restored to a right relationship with God. Scripture teaches that when we are born again the love of God is shed abroad in our heart. That kind of love will never be found in this world other than in the heart of a believer. It enables us to be the hands and feet and heart of God when we encounter those who are battered and broken. Properly worshiping God starts and ends with loving others unconditionally.
God knew that to change our ways we had to renew our minds. David said in Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (NIV) David knew it was his familiarity with God’s word that kept him from sin, which in turn kept him in God's will. God’s will is always expressed in His word and recording God's word in our heart prevents doubt and unbelief from clouding our mind. Scripture is clear that we are not to conform to the pattern of this world, but to be transformed by renewing our mind, just as David did, by hiding God’s word in our heart. Planting God’s word into your heart is like planting a daisy seed in rich soil. It will produce a hundredfold because each daisy it produces is full of more seed. Our deeds are direct results of the seed of God’s word planted in our heart. The whole world will be against you in your endeavor to spend time in the word of God. That is because God's word over you is a mighty weapon. The more you know the more power you wield. Your ability to change and effectively inspire change is what you are hiding in your heart. Make it a point to add to your heart a little more of God's word every day!
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. ~Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
Have you been recreated in Christ Jesus? What changed at that time?
