God is true to His word

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you.  I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. ~Isaiah 46:4 (NIV)

God’s word is filled with promises, and He is faithful to each and every one.  In 2 Corinthians 1:20 we read “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ.” (NIV) If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, you are in Christ and in Christ is a very sweet place to be!  Scripture teaches in 1 Corinthians 1:21-22 “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ.  He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” (NIV)  The indwelling Holy Spirit is our seal that God is with us and He is also the guarantor of all God's promises to us.  Some of those promises are that He will carry us, sustain us and rescue us.  Do you need to be carried every once in a while?  How about some sustenance, some provision for your hopes and dreams?  Have you ever needed to be rescued?  No matter what situation you find yourself in, just knowing and believing the promises in this one scripture will ensure your victory.  Throughout the bible God shows us examples of how He carried, sustained and rescued His people.  We read in Hebrews 11 of the great examples of faith in Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Rahab and Moses.  The Lord tells us in Hebrews 11:39 “All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith…” (NLT) Those around us can see when we are living by faith in the word of God because we can’t help but tell them by both our words and our actions.  Have you earned a good reputation because of your faith?  Do people see you trusting God despite your circumstances?   If so, you can trust He will carry, sustain and rescue you and it won’t be long before they are seeing the glory of God because of your faith.

The Lord tells us even to our old age and gray hairs He enables us to press on by faith.  When we don’t feel like we will have the strength, His promise is to be there for us in whatever capacity we need.  We don't have to fear tomorrow or what life will bring as we grow older.  We just have to believe God’s word.  He says just as He is with us today, He will be with us every day until we go home to be with Him.  We read in Deuteronomy 34:7 “Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.” (NIV)  That’s how we should want to go!  If you need strength for the journey, remind God of His promise and trust Him to be true to His word.  He tells us in Isaiah 62:6-7 “You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give Him no rest.” (NIV)  When we live by faith God’s glory is manifested in the earth as others see His promises fulfilled in our lives.

The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.” ~Jeremiah 1:12 (NIV)
