God gives us vision and vision gives us direction

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. ~Isaiah 42:16 (NIV)

Just like every other promise in the bible, we have to receive the promise in Isaiah 42:16 by faith.  God is the way maker, not us. He is the one who shines light on our path.  He promises to guide us and make the rough places smooth.  He says He will lead, but we have to follow.  So, what hinders us from following God's lead?  The truth is, for the most part we are walking around spiritually blind and blind people need vision!   You might have it all together today, but tomorrow everything may change, and you just might find yourself transitioning from one vision to another.  During those times we have to readjust what we focus on.  Take for instance starting a new job, things are going to be a little different.  You have to start thinking about the changes you need to make to adjust to your new position.  Maybe you have a longer commute.  Maybe you have to learn to work with a whole new team of people.  Or maybe you have just found out you are pregnant, that will definitely cause some focus shifting and reprioritizing.  Have you ever been in a place where it appeared your entire future was about to be completely different from what you expected or that the course of your life was about to change?  God promises to lead us through those times.  He promises that He will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.

We don't always see the future, but we will. We have to trust God during the transitional periods or the “unfamiliar paths”. They are a time of testing of our faith and the enemy will do everything he can to cast a vision in our minds that our future is bleak, that we aren’t going to make it through or that we just don’t have any idea what chaos tomorrow may bring.  God wants us to trust Him and catch His vision for our lives.  He says in Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)  That is His vision for each and every one of us. You can boldly confess today that no matter what change is around the corner for you, God has promised it’s a good one!  The Lord tells us in Proverbs 29:18 "without vision the people cast off restraint".  Another version of the bible says, "the people run wild".  Have you been running wild lately?  If so, then you need to get with God and ask Him to reveal to you His perspective! He is Lord of your circumstances today and He is Lord of your outcome tomorrow. The bible teaches that God gives us vision and vision gives us direction.  Trust God. His plan for your life is good.  If you hit a patchy spot remind Him that He promised to make the rough places smooth.  He knows everything, can do anything, and has an unlimited supply of whatever it is you need!

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.  ~Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)
