Go have the time of your life!

To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven. ~Ecclesiastes 3:1 (AMP)

Hurry is the pace of our generation.  We rush so much that when we do have an opportunity to slow down, we don't even know how to do it.  Most of us go on vacation and try to pack in so much activity that we find ourselves ready to get back home so we can go back to our "normal" hurried pace.  You don't have to be a believer for long to realize that God is not in a hurry about anything and there is a reason for that.  He says to everything there is a season.   Sometimes we let ourselves get dissatisfied with the season we are in because we aren’t happy with our circumstances and when we find our prayers not getting answered according to our time, we oftentimes stop obeying the word of God.  The Lord tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 that we are to “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (NIV) Giving thanks in all circumstances can be difficult even if we know in our hearts there is a purpose for everything we go through, good or bad.  God promises to turn everything for our good, but we must walk in obedience by making up our mind to be joyful, pray continually and give thanks to Him despite our circumstances.

Those who complain tend to remain and those who praise tend to be raised.  Notice even the prodigal son got up and dusted himself off and said, “no more...I am going back to my Father’s house.”   Our Father in Heaven is always waiting with open arms so we can do the same, but we must enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.  We must be ready to humble ourselves to adjust to God’s plan instead of expecting Him to accommodate ours.  The days we have on this earth are too precious and too short to spend any time waiting and wanting.  If you find yourself waiting and wanting, then you need to remind yourself that God is doing things behind the scenes that you or nobody else can make happen.  He hears our prayers, and He has promised us in 1 John 5:14-15 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God:  That if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of Him.” (NIV)  God has packed every day with opportunities to obey Him by being joyful, praying continually and giving thanks whether we have seen our prayers answered or not.  We have to learn to trust in Heavens timing that there is a purpose for the delay and to everything there is a season!  The Lord would never tell us to do something we are not able to do.  So, take time today to smell the roses.  Be joyful, pray continually and give thanks for this day...then go have the time of your life.  Your answer is coming because you are a child of God, and He is faithful to His word.  He has great plans for you and your loved ones every day and in every season!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

What do you need to let go of today to make more room for prayer and spending time in God’s word?
