Go get some living water

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. ~Romans 15:4 (NIV)

Anybody who has ever ready the accounts of Abraham, Joseph or David knows there was a lot of endurance developed in those great men of God.  They trusted God and believed in His love for them accompanied by faith that He would bless them and make them great men through many years of waiting and many obstacles, some they even created themselves!  Their accounts are meant to encourage us that God not only loves us unconditionally, but He is with us and although we don’t always see Him working, He is moving on our behalf in the darkness to bring about a wonderful plan that we will soon see with clarity if we trust in His goodness!  Scripture is full of encouraging words and encouraging words bring the hope that we all need every single day.  As we fill up on God’s word, we fill our hearts with encouragement so we should consider our bibles Gods prescription to us for encouragement.  That’s why it is called the living word because it is pertinent for every person in every situation and at any given time.  God’s word is alive and will fill our spirits and create a wellspring of hope on the inside of us that refreshes us daily with inspiration and assurance if we will choose to hold on to His word as our stronghold.  When we make a point to seek encouragement from Gods word, we become an ambassador of His encouragement to the world.  But we aren't able to give something we do not possess ourselves.  If we want to be a source of encouragement for others, we have to go fill God’s prescription to us and read His word daily.

Jesus said in John 7:38 “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” (ESV)  The living water Jesus is referring to is the Holy Spirit and He wants to flow through your life today.  He wants to refresh you, hydrate you and energize you by blessing you and bringing life and light into this world so don't wait another minute.  Go get some living water today.  Hit God’s word like a starving man hits a loaf of bread set before him!  Set your mind to believe what God has said in His word about you and your life.  He loves you and He has forgiven you and He has restored you to be in fellowship with Him through the blood of Jesus for all eternity.  He wants you to believe that with every part of your being.  If you find yourself hurting, frustrated, disappointed, confused, or weary then it’s time to go to God’s word for encouragement.  That’s where you are going to find the truth and that is where you are going to find the support and strength from the Holy Spirit that you need to build yourself up and endure.  God wants you to be a source of encouragement to everyone He puts in your path, but you aren’t going to be able to help others endure if you haven’t learned to rest in peace and patience as you trust God to honor His word in your life!  He says out of your heart will flow rivers of living water so start being a blessing to others by trusting God that you don’t ever have to be thirsty for His goodness and love again.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” ~John 4:13-14 (NIV)
