I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you]. ~John 16:33 (AMP)
What a wonderful promise from the Lord! Not only does He give us perfect peace and confidence, but He has also deprived the world of its power to harm us. We might have difficulties, but they can only get to us if we let them. Keeping our attention and focus on our frailty does not activate faith but keeping our attention and focus on God’s sufficiency will ignite our faith and cause us to see change and challenges as opportunities instead of fearing what we do not know or understand. That coupled with the knowledge that no matter what comes our way today, Jesus has overcome it, will not only help us to endure but we will overcome by faith because we know who we are in Christ! We need to quit meditating on our problems and start meditating more on God's promises. How much time have you wasted worrying about something that never happened or that you could do nothing about? Let God be God in your life and give Him those concerns. Share your life with Him and let Him be that trusted friend you tell everything to. To change our way of doing things we have to change our minds. We must assume our position in the body of Christ and renewing our minds to what the Lord has said about who we are. Do you know who you are in Christ? Do you know that you are a new creation in Christ with new desires and new dreams and unlimited possibilities and potential?
We are told in Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” (NIV) God’s will is for us to live victoriously in every area of life, but It takes time to renew our mind to everything He wants us to be and have. Your spirit might have been made alive and new, but your soul and body still need a lot of training in righteousness. It is important that we use our time wisely, investing it in learning who we are in Christ by studying the Word of God. Time is our most valuable resource, and we shouldn’t waste a single minute of it living in yesterday’s knowledge and understanding. We need fresh manna for our spirit man just like the Israelites needed fresh manna daily for their physical man. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (NIV) If you aren’t feeding your spirit a daily dose of God’s word you aren’t living the life God has called you to live. It’s time to enjoy the awesome life God has given you! Receive that peace and confidence the Lord promises to you even in the midst of your circumstances. You have overcome through Him. Know you are going to go through storms but also know you are going to come out victorious. That’s Jesus’s promise to you! Believe it and rest in Him knowing His love for you is unconditional and eternal.
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ~Romans 8:31 (NIV)
How much time have you wasted fretting over something you couldn't do anything about?
