Don't let a bad attitude keep you out of God's presence

You shall [reverently] fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him and cling to Him, and by His name and presence you shall swear. He is your praise; He is your God, Who has done for you these great and terrible things which your eyes have seen. ~Deuteronomy 10:20–21 (AMPCE)

God has not called His children to be irritable, grumpy people.  Many of us get up grumpy and don’t even know why.  If the first thought that came to your mind this morning was “I don’t feel like it”, that could make you grumpy.  God wants us to be full of joy, anticipating spending time with Him and looking forward to sharing with Him all the opportunities He is going to bring our way, opportunities to love and to learn and to bloom right where we have been planted.  Expectation is the spiritual hand we reach with to receive all that God has for us.  Faith is confident expectation and if we aren’t using our faith then we are probably submitting to fear.  Fear of what might happen if we get our hopes up and fear of what our lives might look like if we experience any kind of change.  What are you grabbing for?  If your expectations are that God has preplanned your day to be a living, breathing example of His love to a lost world you are on the right track.  We must be ready to believe that all of heaven is backing us up as we step out to do God's will every day.  God would never send out an ambassador ill prepared or ill provisioned for the job!  The Lord tells us in 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (NIV) We see from God’s word He is able to give, but are we able to receive?  Sometimes we get off track because we don’t have what we think we need sitting in the bank and growing interest. We think we will be a blessing when all our future needs are met.  We want our retirement in place before we can give cheerfully because we aren’t trusting the Lord with our tomorrows.  The truth is we can give cheerfully today if we have learned contentment and if we have learned to have faith and trust in God to be true to His word.

Sometimes God's will does not seem so spectacular to us but that is when we need to remind ourselves that every opportunity in our day is a seed that can produce an abundant harvest in our lives and in the lives of others.  Even a smile has the potential to reproduce itself.  We should see what we are doing today as an introduction to the work the Lord is calling us to do in the future!  God wants us to enjoy every minute of our life no matter what we are doing, and He wants to fellowship with us, but a discontent heart full of grumbling and complaining will not be what brings us into His presence.  Psalm 100:4 says, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.” (NIV) We need to lay aside the murmuring and complaining in the morning and enter His presence with a grateful heart so He can prepare us for our day.  God says in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” (NIV) Don’t let a bad attitude keep you out of God’s presence.  Go seek great and unsearchable answers that only God can give you as early as possible to prepare you for an awesome day!

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. ~1 Chronicles 16:34 (NIV)
