Don’t be ashamed to ask God for anything, great or small!

Don’t be ashamed to ask God for anything, great or small!

Faith motivated Abraham to obey God’s call and leave the familiar to discover the territory he was destined to inherit from God. So he left with only a promise and without even knowing ahead of time where he was going, Abraham stepped out in faith. ~Hebrews 11:8 (TPT)

The Lord says it was faith the motivated Abraham. That must have been some pretty strong faith because it motivated him to move out of his comfort zone and not just relocate, but dwell in tents for generations!  We read in Hebrews 11:10 “His eyes of faith were set on the city with unshakeable foundations, whose architect and builder is God Himself.” (TPT)  Abraham was motivated because he had a vision of what God had promised Him.  He had heard God’s voice and was moving into his destiny through faith and obedience.  Faith and obedience are what is going to move you and me into our destinies also.  Biblical faith engages both our hearts and our minds.  We give mental, or intellectual ascent to the truth of God’s word and we trust that it is true.  It’s imperative that we learn to agree with God and then allow Him to transform our hearts and lives.  What is God telling you to do today?  Is that gentle voice of the Holy Spirit encouraging you to step out and trust God with a new career?  Maybe He wants you to open your home to a neighbor who has never heard the gospel or maybe He wants you to buy a boat to take the youth at your church out on the lake this summer.  God isn’t passive.  He is always moving, and He wants us to be on the move as well. He wants us to be hearing and obeying Him more and more so that He can use us to make a difference in our families and in our communities for His glory.

Abraham had to leave the familiar to discover what God had in mind for Him. He had to learn to “blindly” follow the Lord and that took some risk.  You will never do anything amazing without taking risks, but the great thing is when you’re putting all your faith in God, He comes through every time. Even when you don’t get it all right, He brings you through and turns it all out for your good.  Who wouldn’t want to love, serve, and fellowship with a best friend like that?  When our faith rests in the one who has made us unlimited and amazing promises for our lives, we tap into His faithfulness.  The Lord tells us in Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that He is real and that He rewards the faith of those who give all their passion and strength into seeking Him.” (TPT)  What are you seeking after God for today?  Have you identified the desires of your heart?  Have you taken the time to think about what you would like to have and see in your life tomorrow, next week or even next year?  Have you set goals that you need God to help you with and take you past your natural abilities to supernaturally receiving His strength and provision?  If not, you need to learn to dream and get a vision for what your heart desires.  Ask God to show you what He has placed in your heart to desire. The enemy wants you to believe you are greedy and selfish if you ask God for anything, but the Lord tells us to ask.  Jesus tells us in John 16:24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” (NIV)  I don’t know about you but that statement does not sound like the Lord expects us to be ashamed for asking Him for anything, great of small!  He is the Lord of the universe!  All has been given to Him and you are His. Let today be the day your step out in faith and see your hopes become a reality by taking God at His word!

Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen. ~Hebrews 11:1 (TPT)

What are you seeking after God for today? Have you identified the desires of your heart?
