Cling to the word and faith will come!

In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. ~John 16:33 (NKJV)

Jesus overcame the world and by the power of the Holy Spirit we can too.  Christ in us is all we need to qualify us unconditionally as loved sons and daughters of God and we are made worthy of receiving from Him timely help for every need.  God meets us where we are.  Not just when we place our faith in Jesus for salvation.  He meets us where we are every minute of every day.  We all have issues that need to be overcome and bondages that we need to be delivered from and believe it or not, we have many more that we don’t know anything about yet.  God helps and heals us in moderation to what we are able to receive.  We would be utterly discouraged if we knew all that we would be required to overcome during our lifetime here on earth.  That is why leaning on the Lord in every battle is so important.  In 1 John 5:5 we are told “Who is it that overcomes the world?  Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (NIV) Believers are equipped to overcome their problems, circumstances and even hopelessness because we are children of God.  Sometimes we find ourselves in the midst of the muck and we don’t always know how to rise to the top.  That’s where the word of God comes in.  God’s word is full of promises that when received by faith can change our world.  It is vital to our victory in this life to believe what He says about us and about our circumstances.  When we find ourselves beginning to doubt that our dreams will ever be fulfilled, we need to look to Psalms 37:4 where scriptures tells us “delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.” (AMP)  When we make up our mind to believe that promise from God and delight ourselves in the Lord, He gives us the desires of our hearts, because of our faith in His word.

It’s hard to be an overcomer if we don’t know the word of God because it is the foundation of our faith and God tells us in 1 John 5:4 “This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” (NIV)  Many people try to live victorious lives without spending time with God in His word but that’s just not how it works.  2 Peter 1:4 says “Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature…” (NIV)  The more time you spend with God in His word the more you will overcome adversities and participate in His divine nature because He teaches us in His word what to do and how to respond in every situation.  What do you need to overcome today?  What does God's word have to say about it?  Knowing the Lord’s thoughts will illuminate your path.  That is why you need to know His word.  Take the time to find out God's promise and your victory is sure because when we cling to the word, faith will come!

Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live.  Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. ~Proverbs 4:4-5 (NIV)
