Be real and ask God for help

The Lord says this to you: Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. ~2 Chronicles 20:15 (AMP)

It never benefits us to be a “know it all”.  Actually, there is no such thing.  Only God knows it all.  In 2 Chronicles God’s people were facing a huge trial.  There was an army much larger than them out to destroy them.  The king of Judah at that time was Jehoshaphat and his wisdom was shining that day as he offered a prayer for his people to God.  In 2 Chronicles 20:12 he prays “O our God, will You not exercise judgment upon them? For we have no might to stand against this great company that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You." (AMP)   We all have a “go to”, you know the one you “go to” when things are falling apart.  Jehoshaphat had a “go to” also and it was Almighty God.  As king he had a responsibility to a nation.  We have a responsibility too.  We have people watching us every day.  We are influencers whether we realize or want to admit it or not.  How we approach trials, and the seeming uncertainties of life are a witness to what we believe.  Going to God in our time of need shows others we trust in our Heavenly Father to be there and to help us. The Lord wants to be the one that we all go to in times of trouble.  Looking to God for His wisdom and ability is one of the ways we honor and glorify God.

We need to pray Jehoshaphat’s prayer and we need to pray it regularly!  "Lord, I don't know what to do, but my eyes are on you" is one of the humblest prayers we can offer.  It acknowledges our weakness, and it acknowledges God’s strength.  Jesus said apart from Him we could do nothing, but with Him all things are possible.  God isn't waiting for us to be more eloquent; He is waiting for us to get real and acknowledge that He is our way maker.  Don’t lay expectations on others to accomplish only that which God can do in your life and don’t spin your wheels trying to do something you are not capable of in and of yourself.  That is only operating in pride and God says pride comes before a fall.  The Lord promises when we humble ourselves before Him, He will exalt us in due time.  Our Heavenly Father wants us to be serious about asking Him alone for the help we need.  He says the battles we find ourselves in are not ours, but His.  No matter what the adversity is that you are facing today, even if you think you know what to do, you are not going to be able to do it without His help.  We are a living witness to the mercy, favor, and goodness of our Father.  He shows the world how amazing He is by living in and through us.  He blesses us every day so that we can go out and testify to the world what a great Heavenly Father we have and then we bless others because just as He loves us, we love Him, and we love everyone because He loves everyone…His love has been shed abroad in our hearts to love others completely and unconditionally. God will part a sea if He needs to so that He can bring His promises to fruition in your life.  Show Him today how much you love and trust Him by going to Him in prayer, whatever the need or desire.

For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is He who will save us.  ~Isaiah 33:22 (NIV)

What do you need that only God can do for you today?
