Are you stumbling all over yourself?

Without revelation people run wild, but one who listens to instruction will be happy. ~Proverbs 29:18 (HCSB)

One word from God can change your entire life.  Listening to God’s word brings happiness into our lives because God desires for us to be happy.  That is why He instructs us.  He has given us His word and restored us to a right relationship with Himself so that we can seek Him in every situation and circumstance.  God knows what is best for us way more than we do.  His perspective and perception is always unlimited but ours is very limited.  That is why hearing from God is so important to our success in this life.  Jesus said in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (KJV)  That word for every “whosever” who chose to believe it gave them the ability to become spiritually immortal.  That is how powerful the word of God is!  We all need a fresh word from the Lord daily to help us on our journey in this life.  God’s word reveals both His will and His way to do things.  He tells us in Proverbs 29:18 that without a revelation from Him we tend to run wild.  One version reads “they stumble all over themselves”.  Have you ever found yourself running wild?  Do you sometimes feel like you’re stumbling all over yourself?  When we feel that way, we need to open our bible and get a revelation.  The word of God is where we are going to find the answers to and for this life.  The bible is the living word of God.  It does not change, and it contains pertinent wisdom for every situation we encounter.  You could call it your user’s manual for life.

Jesus said to the believers in Laodicea “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (NIV)   We might interpret that to say “if anyone opens their bible, I will meet them there and we will fellowship together”.  Your fellowship with God is directly dependent upon the amount of time you fellowship with His word.  Who or what are you fellowshipping with today?  You aren’t going to get a revelation of the benefits of walking in love by watching the Hallmark channel just like you aren’t going to get an understanding of all the blessings God has prepared for you by spending your time and energy on anything that distracts you from your time with God.  The word of God is a place of refuge, refreshing and revelation.  It is the cleft of the rock.  That secret place right between the rock and the hard place!  Set your heart and mind on God’s word and His promises and you will see the reward is great for those who walk with the King of Kings!  Whatever you do, don't let anything come between you and your time with the God.  He promises those who listen to His instruction will be happy and blessed.  It’s about time we assess what value the word of God has to us and how much it means to us.  We do that by looking at how much time we spend reading, studying, and meditating on it.  Today is a great day to remind ourselves that feeding our spirit man is not just as important as feeding our natural man.  It’s more important!

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” ~Matthew 4:4 (NIV)
