Are you leaving room for a different outcome?

But in the day that I’m afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. ~Psalm 56:3 (TPT)

When was the last time you felt afraid? It happens to us all. But not all of us react to fears the same way. Those who put their trust in God are able to overcome fears and press into a place of security and peace that few know. It’s called the secret dwelling place of the Most High and it is “home base” for the born again believer. It’s the place where we not only survive, but we thrive. It’s the place where we live and move and have our being in Him. Where peace flows like a river no matter what our outward circumstances look like. A place where we are able to see ourselves, others and situations through eyes of faith, knowing the good and perfect will of the Father, because we know His word. Don’t let the enemy steal your quiet time with the Lord and you will be able to rest in Him. Just like the farther and longer you get away from home the more you need to pack to be prepared for the journey, the farther and longer you get away from the presence of God, the more of God’s word you are going to need to pack into your heart.

Life is comprised of seasons both natural and spiritual. For the most part, we can see the natural ones coming. But sometimes spring can throw us for a loop and that last freeze could be way past our “expected” date which can cause seedlings to die, crops to need to be replanted or in the very least, a lot of extra work to make sure everything has been protected from the elements. That protection is only possible if we know there is a late freeze coming. The weather can be predicted and sometimes it’s right and sometimes it’s not, but God is never wrong, and He can guide us through any unexpected situations if we seek Him. God isn’t in the business of leaving His chosen children out in the cold with no protection. He says in Psalm 50:15 He tells us “Pray to me in time of trouble: I will rescue you, and you will honor me.” (CEV) That is a very specific outcome. God did not leave any room for a different outcome. Are you leaving room for a different outcome? We are told in James 1:6-8 “But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do. (NLT) Our lack of faith looks like instability to God. It actually makes Him look unstable to others as well and He is not unstable! He is solid as a rock and His word will not return to Him void. That is why it is so important that we make sure that the word of God in our heart is planted in the richest possible soil. The only way we can do that is to nurture that word. We don’t nurture our garden by casting seed of weeds throughout it and we don’t nurture the word of God in our heart by entertaining “weed thoughts”. His words are “rescue” and “deliverance”. Anything that counters those words must be cast down in our minds, not cast abroad with our mouths. Be on the lookout for your rescue today. Start preparing for your deliverance. Go ahead and honor God, give Him the glory…on this side of your Red Sea. Take God’s word for granted. It is you know. It has been granted for over 2000 years.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” ~Psalm 91:9-16
