A New Beginning

It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. ~Lamentations 3:22–23 (AMP)

We can find peace in knowing that God’s compassion and kindness is new every morning.  God has provided a way for our past to have zero power over us, but it is up to you and me to receive His gracious gift of forgiveness, mercy, and a new beginning.  When we know God loves us and we know His heart and His ear is bent towards us, we learn to see His stability and faithfulness and it gives us rest.  We no longer have to be anxious about today or tomorrow or even what we did yesterday because we are resting in the fact that our lives are in the hands of a very gracious and good God.  We must never forget that it is God who enables us to overcome and do far more than we could ever imagine that we could do because He is with us now and forever more!  He has promised to never leave us or forsake us.  In other words, the Lord is committed.  He is with us and our loved ones for the long haul.  He patiently waits for us to learn and walk in His truths.  We don't have to stay on the wrong path or allow ourselves to perpetuate our mistakes.  It only causes them to fester and threatens our future. In Christ, God has provided everything we need to live successfully and abundantly without fear of failure or lack because it is not up to us to provide our forgiveness or to cleanse our shame.

When you ask God to forgive you for something the bible teaches us that He is faithful and just to do it.  He continuously cleanses us from all unrighteousness.  We are said to be new creatures when we enter into a relationship with Christ Jesus.  Old things have passed away.  Now we need to let them go because God says He already has.  Today we have an opportunity for a new beginning.  That new beginning can start right now if you will only let yourself become spiritual clay for the Lord to work with.  We have to make up our mind to believe what God has said and then act on it.  Unchanged clay isn't worth a lot, but a vessel molded correctly can be fit for all kinds of service.  To mold clay, we sometimes have to give it some pressure and then we might have to cut some pieces off that don’t work for the final design.  Jesus taught that God is our master pruner.  Have you ever felt like God was pruning back some things in your life?  Have you ever felt the pressure of making decisions that would make you look and act more like your Savior?  Sometimes it isn’t comfortable to be clay in the Lords hands and that is when we have to be able to trust that everything God does or allows in our lives is out of His great love, mercy and compassion towards us.  He can turn it for our good if we turn to Him and allow Him to use it to teach us to become who He wants us to be and ultimately who we want to be.  God has arranged for you and me and everyone we love to have a fresh new start, but we must be willing to let go of the past, let Him make the necessary changes in us and then press on to the bright future He has called us to!

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead ~ Philippians 3:13 (NASB)

In what areas have you allowed the Lord to remold how you think and act?
