A fresh new you!

Therefore, if anyone is united with the Messiah, he is a new creation — the old has passed; look, what has come is fresh and new! ~2 Corinthians 5:17 (CJB)

Don’t you just love the words fresh and new?  God teaches us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that this life is all about new beginnings.  Pay attention to what’s going on around you.  New beginnings are occurring everywhere.  New friends, new opportunities, new jobs, new houses, new babies!  Every day is a brand-new day full of new possibilities and chances to make new and better choices which leads to times of refreshing.  All of us could use times of refreshing and since God has made all things new, we have doors opening for us that no man can shut.  According to God we have promises in His word that enables us to partake in His divine nature.  It’s almost overwhelming to think of all the wonderful breaks God has in store for us.  Breaks in the form of disruptions from the old ways of doing things and breaks in the form of great opportunities to bring in a new way of doing things!  When we choose to believe God’s word over what we feel, see, or think, we are giving God’s word final authority in our lives.  We can’t look at our old ways of accomplishing, we must be open to change and a new way as we study Gods word and allow Him to change our hearts and minds.

Scripture teaches when we accept Jesus as our Savior our old self passes away and we are a new creation.  We aren’t the same person; we are elevated in stature because God has come to live in our hearts in the form of His Holy Spirit.  Do you have the Holy Spirit living in you?  If so, you have the inside information on anything and everything you need to be successful in this life.  You just have to know and believe who you are in Christ and that Christ is in you.  Jesus said in John 16:13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth…” (NIV)  Now that is a promise worth grabbing on to!  All truth is available to the believer.  But we must believe it is available and then we must seek and then receive it.  God isn’t hiding His wisdom from us.  The veil was torn when the Lord gave His life on the cross.  We have open access to the throne of God, and we are crazy not to enjoy the presence of God because He is our very best friend.  Everybody needs a fresh start and today could be your day.  Accept God's word by faith that you are a new person in Christ Jesus, you don’t have to live and operate as others who don’t know the Lord do.  God is on your side.  He will help you live a righteous life in Him.  All you have to do is trust Him.

Because you have satisfied me, God, I promise to do everything you say.  I beg you from the bottom of my heart: smile, be gracious to me just as you promised.  When I took a long, careful look at your ways, I got my feet back on the trail you blazed.  I was up at once, didn’t drag my feet, was quick to follow your orders.  The wicked hemmed me in—there was no way out—but not for a minute did I forget your plan for me.  I get up in the middle of the night to thank you; your decisions are so right, so true—I can’t wait till morning!  I’m a friend and companion of all who fear you, of those committed to living by your rules.  Your love, God, fills the earth! Train me to live by your counsel.  ~Psalm 119:57-64 (MSG)

Do you believe God is on your side? How has He shown up big for you lately?
